Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to drive line-of-business people initiatives in support of business strategy. The role partners with COEs to promote a culture of positive employee relations and engagement, while ensuring health and safety compliance across sites.

The HRBP will coach managers, lead performance processes, and collaborate across HR functions to reduce turnover and strengthen leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Labor Relations, Business or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar HRBP role.
  • Ability to bridge cross-functional boundaries and influence outcomes.
  • Ability to make decisions in adverse situations and resolve conflicts.
  • Support team development with strong problem solving and coaching.
  • Professional presentation with written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 25-50%.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with safe work practices and processes.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees; partners with Legal and Labor Relations; administers union agreements where applicable.
  • Counsels line management providing HR expertise including change management.
  • Increase leadership capability through coaching, development planning and facilitation.
  • Builds trusting relationships by spending time in the field and understanding critical business challenges.
  • Coaches, counsels and trains managers and employees on policies, procedures, development, employee relations and labor relations.
  • Collaborates with LOB/COEs to deploy programs improving employee engagement and retention; updates policies as needed.
  • Facilitates annual performance management, development and compensation review processes.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues and conducts thorough investigations.

Clean Harbors is looking for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join their safety conscious team! The HRBP oversees the development and execution of line of business (LOB) specific people initiatives that align and support overall business strategy. Focuses on working with the business and the Human Resources Centers of Excellence (COE) to promote a culture of positive employee relations and employee engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times; Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the Legal and Labor Relations department as needed. Includes administering union agreements for assigned unions and organizations where applicable. May participate/support HRD with union negotiations;
  • Consults with line management, providing HR expertise including change management;
  • Increase leadership capability through coaching, development planning and facilitation;
  • Building trusting relationships throughout the company by spending time in the field and getting to know the critical challenges to growing the business first hand;
  • Coach, counsel and train all managers and employees company policies/procedures, organizational development training programs, career development, employee relations, labor [labor] relations, and all other training programs;
  • Strategically collaborate with LOB / COEs and deploy programs to understand and improve employee engagement, employee retention and turnover reduction; (including updating of policies etc.);
  • Facilitate annual performance management, employee development and compensation review processes; (life cycle);
  • Manages and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective thorough and objective investigations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources/Labor Relations/Business/Related field;
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar position;
  • Ability to bridge cross functional boundaries within an organization;
  • Ability to make decisions in an adverse situation, conflict resolution;
  • Ability to support team development, strong problem solving skills;
  • Professional presentation with both written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize while being detail oriented;
  • Ability to travel 25-50%
