ELM Utility Services, a nationwide underground utility locating company, seeks a Human Resources Assistant at its Peoria, IL headquarters. You will support the hiring process, manage candidate data, and help move candidates through pre‑employment steps in a fast paced environment.

The role emphasizes accuracy, discretion, and strong communication, with typical Monday–Friday hours and opportunities to grow in HR operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous administrative or customer service experience required.
• HR experience or related degree is a plus.
• Strong typing and data entry with attention to detail.
• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication while following through with requests.

Responsibilities

• Verify pre‑employment requests including background checks, motor vehicle record checks and drug screens.
• Organize and manage candidate information.
• Accurately enter data into internal databases, including our HRIS system.
• Scan and file documents as part of a digital filing system.
• Prioritize and manage time‑sensitive requests.
• Keep management informed on candidate status and screening results.
• Work with onboarding to coordinate hiring efforts for new employees.
• Support other HR and company needs as they arise.
