Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale seeks a Human Resource Assistant 2 to support time and attendance, payroll and leave processes, and employee records. This role emphasizes accurate records, guidance to staff, and compliant administration within a secure prison environment.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with telework up to two days per week possible, subject to PA residency and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 or one year clerical/related experience plus one year paraprofessional HR or equal opportunity work, or an equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Time Management: Review attendance data, adjust records and monitor policy compliance.
• Payroll Coordination: Evaluate time issues, apply correct pay rules and ensure accurate coding.
• Leave Processing: Coordinate military, extraordinary leave and donation program forms.
• Record Oversight: Audit timekeepers and track reports for central office.
• System Administration: Enter CATS data, maintain TWOC logs and prepare policy-based reports.
• Employee Support: Assist staff with FMLA documentation and personnel files.
