Human Resource Administrator
Position Summary
The Human Resource Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, administration of employee benefits programs, and support of day-to-day human resources operations. This role serves as a primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll and benefits-related inquiries while providing administrative support for various HR initiatives, employee engagement activities, and organizational programs.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, maintains strong confidentiality, and possesses strong customer service and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process semi-monthly and/or monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Review and verify employee time records, earnings, deductions, and payroll changes.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy within payroll systems.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries.
- Process new hire, termination, and compensation changes in payroll systems.
- Assist with payroll reporting, audits, reconciliation, and year-end activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Benefits Administration
- Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits questions and concerns.
- Coordinate employee enrollment, changes, and terminations for benefit programs.
- Verify and maintain benefits eligibility and enrollment information.
- Assist employees with benefit plan education and enrollment processes.
- Liaise with benefit carriers and vendors to resolve enrollment or claim issues.
- Support annual open enrollment activities, communications, and system updates.
- Maintain accurate benefits records and documentation.
Human Resources Support
- Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources department.
- Maintain employee files and records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Schedule interviews, meetings, training sessions, and employee events.
- Prepare HR-related correspondence, reports, presentations, and communications.
- Support policy distribution and employee acknowledgment tracking.
- Assist with HR compliance documentation and record retention requirements.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Coordinate employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and company events.
- Assist in organizing wellness initiatives, celebrations, and employee appreciation activities.
- Support employee communication efforts and internal announcements.
- Help foster a positive employee experience through responsive service and support.
- Participate in special HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Preference for 2 years of payroll, benefits administration, HR administration, or related experience.
- Experience working with payroll and HRIS systems preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and benefits administration practices.
