Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1–3 years of HR generalist, HR coordinator, or related administrative experience
  • Familiarity with ADA regulations and accommodation processes preferred or willingness to obtain ADA Coordinator training
  • Experience working within an HRIS
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working across administrative HR tasks and public-facing coordination

Responsibilities

  • Support full-cycle recruiting: posting positions, scheduling interviews, candidate communication, reference and background checks
  • Coordinate onboarding: I-9/W-4, HRIS setup, orientation logistics
  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS; process status changes
  • Assist benefits administration: open enrollment, benefits questions, leave/PTO tracking
  • Payroll support: timesheet review and PTO reconciliation
  • Maintain compliance with employment law postings and documentation (FMLA, EEO, ADA Title I)
  • Serve as first point of contact for HR questions
  • Prepare HR correspondence, templates, and routine reports
  • Support offboarding processes and records closeout
  • ADA & accessibility compliance: act as designated ADA Coordinator across two sites
  • Manage accommodation requests from intake to resolution
  • Maintain accessibility documentation and support audits
  • Partner with Facilities, IT, and Learning & Engagement on remediation projects
  • Deliver ADA and accessibility awareness training to staff and volunteers
  • Track and report accessibility metrics to HR leadership
  • Volunteer & Internship Program Management: recruit, screen, onboard volunteers and interns
  • Coordinate training, scheduling, and ongoing engagement for volunteer/intern programs
  • Track volunteer/intern hours and program participation data

Position Summary

The HR & Accessibility Coordinator is a hybrid role that combines core HR generalist coordination with ownership of the Museum’s accessibility compliance and volunteer/intern engagement functions. This position provides day-to-day support across recruiting, onboarding, employee records, and benefits administration, while also serving as the Museum’s ADA Coordinator — managing accommodation requests, accessibility compliance tracking, and staff training — and coordinating the volunteer and internship programs across both museum sites. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable with administrative HR process work and public-facing, relationship-driven program coordination.

Key Responsibilities
HR Coordination & Generalist Support
  • Support full-cycle recruiting: posting open positions, scheduling interviews, coordinating candidate communication, and assisting with reference and background checks
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding, including I-9/W-4 paperwork, HRIS setup, and orientation logistics
  • Maintain accurate, compliant employee records in the HRIS and process employee status changes
  • Support benefits administration, including open enrollment logistics, employee benefits questions, and leave/PTO tracking
  • Assist with payroll support functions such as timesheet review and PTO reconciliation
  • Help maintain compliance with employment law postings, recordkeeping, and documentation (FMLA, EEO, ADA Title I)
