Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks a senior development professional to lead fundraising efforts for an assigned college or unit within the UH system.

This role serves as chief development officer, guiding strategic plans, prospect cultivation, and major gift initiatives. Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of donors, coordinating with faculty and volunteers, and overseeing budget and staff.

Qualifications

  • Requires a 4-year degree or equivalent training.
  • Minimum 3 years of directly job-related experience.
  • Experience in personal solicitation and fundraising.

Responsibilities

  • Directs development activities for assigned college or unit; creates and implements a comprehensive fundraising plan, including prospect development and management, annual, major and planned gifts and stewardship.
  • Manages a portfolio of prospects which are mostly at the level of $25,000 to $100,000.
  • Identifies, cultivates and solicits prospects, and stewards donors; works with faculty, staff and volunteers as appropriate.
  • May participate in some major gift prospect opportunities, typically in conjunction with a member of the UH Office of Development management team or major gifts program.
  • Provides guidance to the college or unit on personal solicitation of annual and special gifts and other development and fundraising matters.
  • May manage development professional and support staff within the college or unit.
  • Administers budget and resources allocated to the college or unit development program.
  • Participates in University-wide development activities as needed.
  • May administer other advancement activities, such as alumni relations, publications, special events, media relations, etc. for assigned college or unit.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Description:

Develops, implements and manages a strategic fundraising planfor assigned college or unit. Serves as the chief developmentofficer for the college or unit (typically with a dual reportingline to the dean and a member of the University Advancementmanagement team.) Possesses some knowledge and experience regardingpersonal solicitation and fundraising in general, and at least abasic knowledge of planned giving.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical andpractical aspects of an analytical, technical or professionaldiscipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professionaldiscipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtainedthrough a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a collegeor university or an equivalent in-depth specialized trainingprogram that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed.

Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-relatedexperience.
