Job summary

Tufts Technology Services (TTS) is seeking a High Performance Computing Engineer to design, deploy, and support secure HPC systems for a compliant research computing environment. The role emphasizes building new services, integrating gateways like Open OnDemand, and applying IaC and security best practices.

The position entails collaboration with RT and TTS staff, development of documentation, and ensuring smooth operations across networks, storage, virtualization, and firewalls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or related field.
• Eight+ years in higher education, research, or technical computing environment for those with a HS diploma.
• Experience with HPC architectures, subsystems, and networking.
• Experience with job schedulers (Slurm) and containers (Singularity, Docker).
• Experience scripting (Shell, Python, Perl).
• Experience with OpenOnDemand or similar web gateways.
• Experience with GPU/CPU HPC software libraries and frameworks.
• Experience with DevOps practices and configuration management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy secure HPC systems and applications.
• Install, configure, and maintain HPC tools and gateways; ensure compliance with security standards.
• Provide system administration services and evaluate PoC systems for new components.
• Maintain outreach and documentation; collaborate across teams and with external partners.
