Job summary

Ursa Major Technologies is seeking an HPC Systems Engineer to lead expansion of our High-Performance Computing clusters and act as the Linux SME across our Colorado facilities. You will streamline CFD/FEA workloads, automate provisioning, and partner with IT, DevOps, and security teams to harden the environment.

You will own Linux systems, hypervisors, and storage networks, implementing NIST/CMMC compliance while enabling rapid propulsion design cycles for our defense and space-related programs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Linux systems engineering and infrastructure administration.
• Experience building, managing, or scaling HPC clusters and distributed MPI/GPU environments.
• Proficient in Python, Bash, Ansible or Terraform for automation.
• Understanding of system hardening and security controls in regulated frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, expand, and optimize Linux-based HPC clusters and compute nodes.
• Administer job schedulers (Slurm, PBS) for fair-share scheduling.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate simulation suites and GPU workloads.
• Manage high-throughput storage and high-speed networks to avoid bottlenecks.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, and onboarding.
