Job summary

The University of Washington's UW Information Technology invites applications for an HPC Systems Engineer to join the Research Computing Operations team in Seattle. This role supports high-performance computing infrastructure for campus research, emphasizing automation and software-defined approaches.

You will participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and collaborate with UWIT colleagues to design, optimize, and operate systems that improve performance, reliability, and usability of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of Linux system administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of networking hardware, protocols, and concepts.
• Excellent written and oral communication and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, monitor, and optimize systems to improve performance and reliability.
• Perform system management tasks including accounts, software, firmware updates, backups, and monitoring.
• Monitor HPC health and troubleshoot issues affecting performance or reliability.
• Respond to tickets and on-call pages; triage and resolution.
• Research and architect new technologies and evolution of clusters.
• Provide training and documentation sharing with the team.
