Job summary

TAP Engineering LLC is seeking a System Administrator II for Infrastructure & Sustainment Support in Annapolis Junction, MD to ensure HPC environments run reliably. You will manage Linux/Unix systems, automate tasks with Bash, and collaborate across teams on performance, capacity planning, and incident response.

The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, DoD 8570 IAT II certification, and 5+ years of relevant experience (or 10+ without a degree).

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (most recent within 7 years)
• DoD 8570 IAT II certification
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 5+ years experience, or 10+ years without a degree
• Strong Linux/Unix administration experience
• OS installation, file systems, software installation, and troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
• Bash scripting experience
• Software compilation and installation
• Understanding HPC architectures and environments
• Familiarity with InfiniBand and Slingshot networking
• Experience with Slurm, Salt, Ansible, Git, Jira, Confluence, Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Linux/Unix operating systems
• Manage file systems, configurations, software installations, and upgrades
• Monitor HPC environments for health and performance
• Troubleshoot OS, networking, storage, and infrastructure issues
• Support TCP/IP networking and high-speed HPC networks
• Develop Bash scripts to automate admin tasks
• Compile and install software in Linux environments
• Support daily operations and incident resolution across servers, storage, and network devices
• Optimize system performance and assist with capacity planning
• Assist users and technical teams with access and troubleshooting
• Document configurations and procedures; escalate complex issues
