Job summary

ORNL, operated by UT-Battelle, is seeking an experienced HPC Engineer to provide hands-on support for scientific applications, compile and debug large-scale codes, and resolve system-level bugs in a high-performance computing environment.

The role involves installing software, developing tests, and delivering training and documentation for users, contributing to the center’s mission and DOE/NNSA/NSF collaborations.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD with 5+ years related experience (varies by degree).
• Experience with multiple programming languages and HPC tech.
• Experience with parallel programming technologies (MPI/OpenMP/CUDA/etc).
• Ability to work in a DOE/DoD/NSF HPC environment.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of user reported problems and provide hands-on support for HPC applications and libraries.
• Compile and debug large science and engineering applications.
• Identify and resolve system-level bugs; collaborate with vendors.
• Install third-party software and provide usage documentation.
• Develop system tests for new deployments and upgrades.
• Create training and outreach materials for users.
