The National Center for Computational Sciences at Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks an HPC Linux Systems Engineer to support Frontier and other HPC environments. You will install, administer, diagnose, and optimize Linux clusters, coordinate with vendors, and help maintain security and reliability across 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or technical field is required.
• 5+ years of Linux systems experience and security policy exposure.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Install, integrate, and administer HPC Linux clusters and high-speed networks.
• Diagnose system operational problems quickly and effectively.
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems.
• Plan and coordinate hardware/software changes with customer participation.
• Port and write system management tools.
• Document system administration procedures for tasks.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation and maintenance windows.
• Integrate systems into NCCS and analyze performance.
• Deliver ORNL’s mission aligned with core values.
