Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking an HPC Infrastructure Engineer to join the HPC Infrastructure group within NCCS. The role focuses on deploying, configuring and managing Linux-based HPC services and contributing to virtualization, automation and platform reliability.

You will work with Terraform, Ansible and Puppet, build CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with the Kubernetes Platform team. Strong Linux knowledge, Bash/Python scripting, and experience with OpenLDAP/DNS/DHCP are

Qualifications

• BS degree in computer science or closely related field.
• MS degree in CS or related field (optional but preferred).
• Minimum 4–5 years of experience in Linux systems and Kubernetes administration.
• Experience with virtualization and related platforms such as VMware.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure and manage HPC-scale services in a Linux environment.
• Perform patches, updates and backups.
• Monitor systems using tools like Nagios and Grafana.
• Respond to and assist in troubleshooting issues.
