Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Environmental Sciences Division seeks a Data Systems Software Engineer to help develop modular software tools and scalable data processing infrastructure for the ARM Data Center and Earth Sciences informatics.

You will design backend workflows, deploy containers, work with HPC and cloud platforms, and ensure robust data analysis in a Linux environment while collaborating across teams and upholding ORNL core values.

Qualifications

• BS degree in computer science, information systems or related field.
• Two years of progressive systems engineering experience in a Linux environment.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PERL.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop and operate back-end data analysis workflows and processes at scale in a HPC environment.
• Design and develop solutions for large volumes of historical and streaming data analysis on hybrid HPC and cloud computing platforms.
• Configure, deploy and update containers in a Docker/Kubernetes environment using GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Deliver ORNL's mission by aligning behaviors with core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service.
