Job summary

The Symicor Group is seeking a Commercial Loan Underwriter in Houston, TX, to analyze financial data and underwrite commercial loans for creditworthiness in accordance with policy and regulations. The role offers a salary up to $125K and a full benefits package, not a remote position.

Candidates need 5-7 years’ underwriting experience in middle-market CRE and C&I loans, along with strong cash flow, ratio, and projection skills, plus knowledge of real estate appraisal techniques and banking

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or economics.
• Five or more years’ experience in Commercial Banking / Lending.
• Experience with cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, and projections is required.
• Strong knowledge of real estate appraisal techniques, field audit examination techniques, and commercial banking regulations is required.
• Formal bank commercial credit training is a plus.
• Must have strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Sage Works, Outlook, and other bank information systems as required.
• Solid qualitative and quantitative analytical skills required.
• Excellent analytical, conceptual, writing, and communication skills.
• Possesses strong organizational skills and can work with limited supervision.
• Existing knowledge of assigned marketplace preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite middle-market CRE and C&I loans, manage processing and closing in line with policies.
• Analyze financial data, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows to assess repayment ability.
• Prepare written loan term summaries and risk narratives.
• Identify and mitigate risks; assign risk ratings and structure loan terms.
• Interact with account officers to negotiate terms and ensure compliance with regulations.
