Job summary

Alta Planning + Design is seeking a Planner I or II for our Houston, TX office. This production-level role focuses on multimodal transportation planning, delivering data-driven recommendations for bicycle, pedestrian, and trail projects while supporting public outreach efforts.

You will work within the Planning Department to develop reports, maps, and plans, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to advance social justice, safety, and environmental resilience in our communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or related field.
• Broad knowledge of multimodal transportation planning practices and trail design standards.
• 0-3 years of relevant work experience (internships in related fields can qualify).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead, prepare, and contribute to the preparation of plans, reports, memos, and presentation materials.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to independently work on multiple projects and complete tasks at a high level of quality.
• Ability to participate in public outreach or conduct site visits.
• Desire to collaborate and participate in multidisciplinary teams.
