Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil in Houston, TX is seeking a Project Engineer to support the project management team on highway and infrastructure projects. You will assist in planning, scheduling, cost control, document management, and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities include reviewing submittals, RFIs, change orders, site visits, progress reporting, and safety compliance, with a focus on quality and timely project delivery. A Civil Engineering or Construction Management background is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in heavy civil construction or related industry.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction practices.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, HCSS HeavyJob, Bluebeam is a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specs, and project documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Valid driver's license and travel to Houston area.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in daily operations, including scheduling, cost tracking, and QA.
• Prepare and review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure safety compliance.
• Support procurement and vendor selection; track deliveries.
• Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and clients.
• Attend project meetings; take minutes and track actions.
• Assist with development of project schedules and critical path.
• Contribute to closeout documents, as-builts and operation manuals.
• Support site safety programs and adherence to protocols.
• Perform quantity take-offs and assist with cost estimates.
