Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our heavy highway construction team in Houston, TX. You will assist the project management team with planning, scheduling, cost control, and document management, while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities include coordinating with subs and clients, maintaining project documentation, and supporting procurement and cost estimation activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in heavy civil construction or related industry.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction practices.
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, HCSS HeavyJob, Bluebeam) is a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to Houston, TX area and surrounding regions as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in daily project operations, including scheduling, cost tracking, and quality control.
• Prepare and review project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports.
• Conduct site visits to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.
• Support procurement by assisting with vendor selection, material requisitions, and tracking deliveries.
• Collaborate with design teams, subcontractors, and clients to resolve technical issues and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in project meetings, taking minutes and tracking action items.
• Assist with development and implementation of project schedules, ensuring critical path activities are identified and managed.
• Contribute to preparation of project closeout documents, including as-builts and operation manuals.
• Support implementation of safety programs and ensure adherence to safety protocols on site.
• Perform quantity take-offs and assist with cost estimates for various project elements.
