Job summary

Youth For Christ Houston seeks a Development Director to provide strategic leadership for development and fundraising, sustaining an $850,000 annual budget and expanding ministry impact across Houston. You will design and execute a comprehensive strategy including major gifts, grants, events, and donor stewardship, reporting to the Executive Director and collaborating with partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, ministry, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years nonprofit fundraising experience, including major gifts and events; Christian ministry or missions experience preferred.
• Proven ability to build and maintain donor relationships with churches and partners.
• Strong communication skills for storytelling and presenting to groups.
• Strategic thinker with planning, organizational, and follow‑through skills.
• Proficiency with donor management/CRM systems and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Lead a comprehensive annual development plan to fully fund and grow the budget through major donors, church partnerships, foundations, businesses, events, campaigns, and planned giving.
• Build and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects; engage through meetings, calls, events, and written communication.
• Oversee flagship fundraising events with clear financial goals and donor storytelling.
• Direct donor communications highlighting youth gospel stories and ministry impact.
• Ensure accurate donor DB usage for tracking giving, moves management, segmentation, and reporting.
• Lead or support grant research, proposals, and reporting to foundations and churches.
• Collaborate with leadership to align development strategy with organizational vision and growth.
• Stay current with fund development practices through training and professional development.
• Strengthen relationships with churches and ministry partners, inviting them to pray, give, and serve.
• Coach staff and volunteers in storytelling to reinforce development priorities.
