Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Business Group Area Manager to lead the Building Engineering Services (BES) in the Houston area. You will develop growth plans, assemble a project delivery team, and coordinate with HDR regions to scale capabilities.

You will oversee multidisciplinary design services—mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, site civil, structural, and specialty—across public, municipal, private, and Federal projects, driving client growth and strategic delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a professional field (Architecture, Engineering, or closely related).
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams.
• Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values.
• Active engagement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
• Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors, and marketing managers.
• Participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in the Houston Area, providing broad engineering, consulting, planning, and program management services to a strong local client base.
• Develop and implement a business plan to grow the BES group, including creating a project delivery team and leveraging staff from other regions as the local team is built.
• Build and develop a team delivering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, site civil, structural, and specialty design services for public, municipal, private, and Federal projects regionally and globally.
• Manage the BES project delivery team and lead business development efforts to expand the client base and pursue opportunities aligned with staff capabilities and growth goals.
• Develop and implement growth strategies, monitor performance, and manage annual revenue forecasts and budgets in collaboration with the Area Manager.
• Help win projects by aligning opportunities with staff expertise and development goals; coordinate with HDR’s other Business Groups and National Directors to deliver projects.
• Participate in strategic client and project pursuits, oversee quality of deliverables, provide technical services, staff administration, and mentoring of staff.
• Collaborate with regional managers, area business group directors, technical directors, and marketing managers to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
