Job summary

City of Marietta in Marietta, GA is seeking a Code Enforcement Inspector to perform inspections enforcing housing and zoning codes. You will inspect residential buildings for hazards, condemn unsafe structures, and coordinate with other inspectors.

The role requires 5+ years in code enforcement and ICC certifications or progress toward them, plus a valid Georgia Class C license and strong PC skills. Candidates will work across city departments and report to the Code Enforcement Manager.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years related code enforcement experience in housing and/or zoning.
  • ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certifications or must obtain within working test period.
  • Must have a valid Class C Georgia driver’s license and a satisfactory driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect existing residential buildings for structural, safety and other hazards to enforce housing codes and zoning ordinances.
  • Condemn unsafe structures, notify tenants, and assist relocation when needed; prepare demolition orders and provide evidence for Municipal Court.
  • Maintain and update records; prepare reports and correspondence to resolve violations or complaints.
  • Explain building and zoning codes to builders, contractors, homeowners, and the public.
  • Coordinate commercial inspections with Fire and Building staff; submit results and notify property owners.
