Job summary

The Bridge provides supportive housing and behavioral health services to vulnerable New Yorkers facing behavioral health and substance use challenges. The Residence Counselor supports adults with serious mental illness in single-site housing, promoting independence and community integration.

Under supervision, duties include ADL support, medication adherence, crisis intervention, documentation, and group facilitation, with emphasis on safety and respectful, culturally competent care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent with human services experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
• Experience with mental health/crisis intervention and trauma-triggered behaviors.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to perform CPR/First Aid/AED, CPI, and Naloxone administration.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide ADL and daily living support to clients including cooking, cleaning, and hygiene.
• Escort clients to appointments and community activities using public transit.
• Support housing stability and develop client plans with natural supports.
• Complete required documentation accurately and timely per policy.
• Co-facilitate groups on wellness, housing stability, employment, and education.
• Assist in program audits and respond to crises as needed.
• Maintain compliance with admissions, discharges, census, and incident reporting.
• Interact with clients, families, and staff in a respectful, culturally sensitive manner.
