Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking a Housing Support Worker to deliver high-quality, person-centred support to customers in supported accommodation. You will promote independence and tenancy sustainment while coordinating with health professionals and partner agencies.

You will respond to safeguarding concerns, maintain records, and work 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with no evenings or weekends. DBS enhancement is required, driving licence desirable for travel between sites.

Responsibilities

  • Assess referrals with a person-centred approach and liaise with health professionals and agencies
  • Support tenancy sustainment by explaining options, rights and responsibilities
  • Review Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments to deliver contracted support
  • Coordinate wraparound support with external agencies and internal teams
  • Maintain partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns and attend case conferences
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation on time
  • Support service standards by promoting safety, cleanliness and repairs reporting
  • Handle complaints and undertake investigations when required

SALARY: £26,420 to £27,810 per annum + Paid Mileage + Benefits

LOCATION: Fully Office Based in Newbury and Thatcham

Driving Licence & Travel: A driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable, as travel between schemes in Newbury and Thatcham may be required. However, this is not essential, provided candidates can reliably travel to both locations. Mileage expenses are reimbursed in line with company policy.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 35 hours | Monday–Friday 9am–5pm | No evening or weekend shifts

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to deliver high-quality, person-centred support to customers living in supported accommodation.

As the Housing Support Worker, you will help clients sustain their tenancies by promoting independence, freedom and choice, while ensuring they understand the support available, their responsibilities and their tenancy or occupation arrangements.

The Housing Support Worker will also work closely with health professionals, partner agencies, colleagues and key stakeholders to support positive outcomes, maintain effective communication and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

DUTIES

Your duties as Housing Support Worker include:

  • Assess Referrals: Engage with prospective clients using a person-centred approach and liaise with health professionals, agencies and colleagues as appropriate
  • Support Tenancy Sustainment: Ensure prospective and current clients understand their support options, financial obligations, rights and responsibilities
  • Review Support Plans: Agree and review Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments, delivering contracted support to achieve required outcomes
  • Coordinate Wraparound Support: Take follow-up action and work with external agencies and internal departments where additional support is needed
  • Maintain Partnerships: Build and maintain links with partner agencies and key stakeholders to support strong communication and co-operation
  • Respond to Safeguarding Concerns: Report concerns relating to vulnerable people using the correct procedures and attend case conferences or meetings as required
  • Maintain Records: Complete and submit relevant documentation and records accurately and on time
  • Support Service Standards: Empower clients to help maintain the safety, security and cleanliness of the accommodation, including reporting repairs where necessary
  • Handle Complaints: Manage complaints and representations in line with policy and undertake investigations where required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
  • Working knowledge and understanding of how to support people in achieving and maintaining independence
  • Experience of providing support to diverse client groups
  • Experience of working with clients experiencing substance misuse and mental health needs
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English, Grades A* to C
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to network and build strong relationships with partner agencies, the community and key stakeholders
  • Good organisational skills, including time management and the ability to meet targets
  • Ability to communicate effectively at different levels
  • Ability to use IT packages and management information systems
  • Ability to deal with distressed and aggressive clients
  • Strong relationship skills, including empathy, mutual acceptance, supportive and constructive challenge, and a positive expectation for the future
  • Professional and values-led, with integrity, inclusivity and respect for diversity
DESIRABLE
  • Housing or support related qualification
  • Driving licence and use of own transport

This role requires an enhanced DBS
