Job summary

Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare (CBH) is seeking a full-time Housing Support Specialist for the Warrenton, OR area. The role supports adults with severe mental health conditions, helping them engage in treatment, access resources, and build skills for independent living in CBH’s housing program.

Day shift runs 7am-7pm with 4/3 or 4/3 alternating weeks, totaling up to 48 hours in peak weeks. Travel within the Baker Building may be required, with a focus on safety, confidentiality, and coordination

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Job DetailsJob Location: Premarq 204 - Warrenton, OR 97146Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $21.09 - $32.82 HourlyClatsop Behavioral Healthcare has an immediate opening for a full time day shift Housing Support Specialist. Housing Support Specialists provide services for adults diagnosed with severe mental health issues that may make it difficult for them to manage independently in the community. This position will work as part of a collaborative team to assist with treatment engagement and offer skill building. They will assist clients in identifying and accessing resources that will support their personal goals and continued success in our housing program.

Housing Support Specialists work with individuals to meet treatment goals, coordinate care, and develop or maintain family and social relationships. They will initiate and follow up on referrals to additional services when indicated. Some of the tasks that Housing Support Specialists may help with include but are not limited to basic personal care, safety skills, grocery shopping, cooking, financial empowerment, purchasing and caring for clothing, household chores, utilization public transportation and accessing other community resources.

Day shift is 7am-7pm, with an alternating work schedule of "4 days on/3 days off" and "4 days off/3 days on" work weeks (48 hours/36 hours alternating work weeks)

Essential Duties/Major Responsibilities
  • Support guests living at the Baker Building
  • All CBH Staff are Mandatory Abuse Reporters per the State of Oregon, as such all staff must be aware of and follow Mandatory Abuse Reporting Policies.
  • Center client voice and work with them to accomplish their goals. Work closely with CBH treatment team. Follow guidance and instruction of primary QMHP on each case.
  • Plan and implement groups and community activities for guests at Baker Building.
  • Discuss progress toward goals with clients, clients' families, and other natural support providers.
  • Consult with supervisor, team lead and other CBH staff members concerning treatment, progress and make recommendations to the overseeing QMHP regarding updates to service plans.
  • Refer clients to other services and programs as indicated and follow up on referrals as needed.
  • Document client interactions, keeping with Oregon Administrative Rules and agency quality assurance standards, protocols, and procedures and timelines.
  • Exercise a high degree of understanding and compliance with accepted standards of client care.
  • Understand and support the mission of the agency and comply with all applicable policy and procedure.
  • Consult and Coordinate services with other community partners such as: Developmental Disabilities, substance use, primary care physicians, Department of Human Services (OHS), Senior & Disability Services, courts, community Action and Schools.
  • Obtain releases of information as needed.
  • Participate in regular team and agency meetings.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the profession.
  • Participate in Investigations, Court hearings, and other legal proceedings as directed by agency and/or subpoenaed and maintains the required documentation for the same.
  • Remain flexible to the changing demands of a mental health system and the needs of the agency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • Peer Support Specialist or ability to acquire within six months of hire.
  • 2-4 years prior experience in working with individuals with mental health or addiction challenges.
  • Skilled at working as a member of an interdisciplinary team and completing required documentation.
  • Current Oregon or Washington driver's license and ability to be insured under the agency vehicle coverage.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Full professional fluency in English.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized.
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and importance of maintaining confidentiality.
Desired Skills
  • Skilled at remaining calm in stressful situation and de-escalating clients.
  • Skilled at leading and facilitating groups.
  • Spanish speaking (10% bilingual bonus)
  • Ability to learn and adopt the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Ability to obtain Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)

CBH also offers sabbatical of 176 hours hours after 10 years of service and annual elective training fund that includes 40 paid hours for training, supervision towards licensure available.
