Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Wayne County MH/ID is seeking a County Caseworker 1 to support individuals facing housing challenges and help them achieve stability. You will assess housing crises, identify barriers, provide program information and verify eligibility, and offer referral options to meet housing needs.

You will also manage consumer files and coordinate with teams to promote independence in the community.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college-level coursework with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences and one year of paraprofessional case management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Housing Assessment: Evaluate housing crises and review consumer histories and needs
  • Needs Evaluation: Identify barriers related to housing, employment, transportation, and other basic needs
  • Program Guidance: Provide information about agency programs and verify eligibility for services
  • Referral Support: Offer referral options and help consumers create plans to meet housing needs
  • Caseload Management: Maintain organized and compliant consumer files and records

Education

Two years of college-level coursework with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or
Bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or
Equivalent combination of experience and training with 12 credits in the social sciences and one year of paraprofessional case management experience
