Job summary

Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) seeks a Service Coordinator to be the first point of contact for community members accessing the Homeless Continuum of Care. The role provides resource coordination and advocacy for those experiencing homelessness or housing crises, including eviction prevention work.

The position operates in a hybrid model with in-office and remote work; must be in the office at least 2 days weekly for meetings and trainings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a field related to social services.
• Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of field work in social services.
• Experience with homeless services or housing programs is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication and crisis intervention abilities.

Responsibilities

• Meet with individuals and families in person to assess needs and coordinate services.
• Respond to phone inquiries to determine immediate needs and provide guidance.
• Engage with clients with dignity and respect, using innovative approaches when needed.
• Provide crisis intervention and follow-up support as required.
• Offer information on homeless and housing services and assist with entry data.
• Maintain HMIS records of client interactions and outcomes.
