Job summary

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley seeks a proactive Housing Coordinator in Blackwood, NJ to identify affordable permanent housing for clients, build landlord relationships, and help maintain housing stability. Reporting to a Social Worker, the role focuses on navigating barriers, coordinating with partners, and ensuring clients can secure and sustain housing.

The position requires experience in human services and housing, knowledge of the housing industry, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of related experience in human services and housing field.
• Experience with homeless populations.
• Knowledge of housing industry and available housing resources.
• Strong verbal and nonverbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet driving standards.
• HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules familiarity.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify affordable permanent housing opportunities for clients.
• Develop and regularly update a comprehensive housing resource guide.
• Build and maintain relationships with landlords, local realtors, housing authorities, county boards of social services, and subsidized apartment providers.
• Help clients navigate housing opportunities and overcome barriers to obtaining permanent housing.
• Participate in landlord-client dispute resolution and assist with relocation when an appropriate resolution cannot be reached.
• Communicate with case managers after housing placement as needed to help reduce homelessness risk.
• Collaborate with impact teams, case managers, social service agencies, and community partners to support housing stability.
• Develop relationships with service providers, planning bodies, officials, and community organizations.
