Job summary

North Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Homeless Prevention officer to join the Homeless Prevention Team. The key responsibility is to deliver an effective homelessness and housing advice service on behalf of the Council, through early intervention and guidance under the Homeless Reduction Act 2017, helping vulnerable clients and partners.

This role involves case management, referrals, and working with private landlords to secure affordable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Experience in homelessness prevention or housing advice.
• Experience working with vulnerable clients and multi-agency partners.
• Knowledge of DBS and safeguarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prevent homelessness through advice.
• Referrals and case management.
• Take lead for a specific area e.g. domestic violence, young people, representing the service at multi-agency meetings.
• Keeping accurate customer records to inform monitoring and reporting.
• Carrying out homeless investigations and making homeless decisions within legislative frameworks.
• Provide information and advice to the community about housing services available through the council and how to access them.
