Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Housing Specialist II to identify housing options for program participants and assist families toward sustainable independent living. You will work as part of the services team, leading outreach, intake, assessment, and coordination of housing referrals.

The role requires collaboration with case management, landlords, and community partners to secure safe housing options and coordinate move-in activities, landlord communications, and follow-up

Qualifications

• Must pass a fingerprint clearance and background check including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications.
• Ability to perform under emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative clients as VOALA serves the neediest.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or equivalent combination of education and work experience (4 years)

Responsibilities

• Identifies and locates housing options suitable for homeless participants.
• Creates and maintains a housing database linking tenants to apartments.
• Communicates with landlords and familiarizes them with the program.
• Works one-on-one with landlords to help clients and represent the program.
• Develops support systems for clients to achieve permanent housing, coordinating move-in activities and referrals.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services

Equivalent combination of education and work experience (4 years)
