Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA) is seeking a Housing Specialist II to identify housing options for participants and help families achieve sustainable, independent living. You will lead assessments, planning, engagement and service delivery as part of the case management team, coordinating move-in activities and referrals.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Social Services or equivalent, two years of case management experience, and the ability to communicate with diverse clients

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience (four years).
• Two years of general experience in case management, including helping homeless individuals navigate Los Angeles’ affordable/housing system.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred; HMIS experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and locates housing options suitable for program participants and referrals to VOALA shelters as appropriate.
• Creates and maintains a housing database linking tenants to apartments.
• Communicates with landlords and familiarizes them with the program and participants’ needs.
• Coordinates move-in activities, rental negotiations, and service referrals as needed.
• Provides information referrals, crisis intervention, and assists with permanent housing placement as part of the case management team.
