Job summary

CAMBA, a NYC-based organization, seeks a Housing Specialist in Brooklyn, NY 11221. The role reports to the Assistant Program Manager and focuses on helping clients secure housing, conduct referrals, and run housing workshops.

Minimum education is a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. First Aid/CPR and overdose prevention certification may be required. Bi-lingual preferred and compensation ranges from $48,100 to $51,500 annually with CAMBA’s full benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in attaining housing-related goals by identifying and referring clients to appropriate services within CAMBA and externally.
• Conduct housing search efforts for housing-ready clients (referrals to housing providers, contacting landlords, searching listings).
• Develop curriculum addressing housing and independent living needs, including permanent housing search processes and options.
• Develop and facilitate a series of Housing Workshops.
• Create materials for a housing information bulletin board.
• Organize and schedule presentations by supportive housing programs and landlords.
• Establish linkages with community-based organizations and local landlords.
• Review housing packages for provider suitability and completeness.
• Follow up with clients post-move to ensure stability.
• Perform intake and psychosocial evaluations and periodic re-assessments.
• Obtain and maintain documentation such as birth certificates, income proofs, and medical records.
• Help clients access benefits and services (on-site medical, psychiatric, etc.).
• Document encounters using DHS CARES Database and paper files.
• May escort clients to appointments (interviews, moves, fairs, etc.).
• Assist with benefit applications and process them on clients' behalf.
