Job summary

HELP USA is seeking a Housing Specialist in New York, NY to help clients find housing and achieve self‑sufficiency. You’ll coordinate with brokers, landlords, and service providers, guide clients through program eligibility, complete housing forms, and advocate for permanent or supportive housing options.

You’ll participate in team conferences, maintain documentation in the system, and develop housing workshops. Spanish/English skills and a valid driver’s license are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent experience.
• Experience in housing placement services is strongly preferred.
• Excellent customer service and conflict management skills.
• Strong written and oral communications.
• Ability to take initiative, be dependable and resourceful, and pay keen attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
• Valid US Driver’s License a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct housing intake and housing assessment interviews for new residents and complete the housing portion of the plan.
• Meet with clients regularly to guide housing search, identify programs, and make referrals.
• Accompany clients to view apartments and assist with move‑in, lease signing, and utility activation.
• Stay current on housing subsidy programs and attend relevant trainings.
• Network with brokers and landlords to develop new housing resources.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team case conferences to align on client needs.
• Document all housing activity in the case management system promptly.
• Develop and present housing workshops and information sessions with outside providers.
