Job summary

The Master Builders Association of Pierce County is seeking a Government Affairs Director for an in-person, full-time role based at the MBAPC office in Tacoma, WA.

You will advocate for MBAPC members, staff committees, attend Pierce County meetings, develop policy positions on housing issues, supervise a junior government affairs staffer, and support communications and events for the association.

Qualifications

• Excellent written communication and organizational skills required.
• Supervisory experience in government affairs or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advocate on behalf of MBAPC members at government and community meetings affecting housing industry.
• Staff association government affairs committees and councils.
• Communicate MBAPC positions to officials, agencies, members and the public; craft housing policy.
• Supervise junior government affairs staff and coordinate workload.
• Attend Pierce County city/county council and commission meetings regularly.
• Provide staff support for committees and task forces as directed by the Executive Officer.
• Prepare government affairs articles for Dimensions Newsletter and MBAPC publications.
• Provide staff support for MBAPC events and day-to-day office duties.
• Oversee Workforce Development efforts and partnerships with Communications on Scholarships.
