Job summary

The Institute for Human Services (IHS) in Hawaii is seeking a Housing Specialist / Case Manager to build permanent housing opportunities by creating an inventory of available units and coordinating with case management staff to operate supportive housing programs.

You will inspect units, assist clients with subsidized housing applications (Section 8 and similar programs), maintain records, and provide outreach to landlords to expand housing options in Oahu/Honolulu.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year experience working with disenfranchised or at risk individuals related in a homeless service and/or in a case management setting
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access and/or database applications.
• Valid Driver's License and clean traffic abstract.

Responsibilities

• Develop housing inventory with landlords and market housing programs.
• Inspect rental units and coordinate subsidies such as Section 8; manage lease requirements.
• Conduct housing presentations and schedule interviews with clients; provide ongoing evaluation assistance.
• Maintain records of referrals, assessments and placement plans per HUD Housing Counseling Plan.
• Communicate housing quality to HUD, Case Manager and client; assist in tenancy compliance.
