Housing Operations Coordinator (Student Development Specialist II)

Responsibilities
  • Live on campus in a Residence Hall Apartment; participate in the campus on‑call rotation, including weekend and evening duties.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Housing Operations in oversight of residence hall buildings and spaces, including building, space, and furniture inspections.
  • Coordinate with all entities (SSC and contracted companies) to address custodial, maintenance, and facility needs, ensuring compliance with safety, accessibility, and university standards.
  • Monitor progress and completion of work orders for departmental spaces and buildings.
  • Coordinate the selection and approval of furniture and equipment purchases for the department.
  • Assist in planning preventative maintenance, rotating renovations, capital improvement projects, and construction initiatives within the residence halls.
  • Collaborate with Housing Coordinators to ensure timely completion of submitted residential work orders.
  • Supervise student staff assigned to Housing Operations, including Desk Assistants and other operations‑focused student employees; provide training, scheduling support, performance management, and ongoing development.
  • Perform and coordinate inspections, conduct site visits, and represent Campus Living & Learning at meetings regarding services provided by SSC and external vendors.
  • Assist with continuity of residential operations during staff vacancies or extended absences; may temporarily assume supervisory responsibilities in the event of a Housing Coordinator vacancy.
  • Serve as the liaison between students, Campus Living & Learning staff, Disability Resources, and facilities personnel regarding residential facility concerns and approved housing accommodations.
  • Coordinate modifications to residential spaces and furnishings necessary to implement approved ADA and housing accommodation requests; communicate timelines for substantial repairs within residential rooms.
  • Organize residence hall opening and closing processes with other live‑on staff; schedule and coordinate safety walkthroughs; maintain signage and community spaces within residence hall buildings.
  • Take part in a Divisional Curriculum by planning, developing, and implementing educational programs within the residence halls; lead programming and marketing initiatives centered on housing operations, safety (fire, weather, coastal humidity), and crisis management.
  • Serve as a student conduct hearing officer and adjudicate assigned residential conduct cases in accordance with university policies and procedures.
  • Attend, participate in, and help plan Student Activities events (New Student Conference, Fall Festival, Howdy Week, etc.); assist in the presentation of leadership workshops, campus orientations, and other presentations as needed; serve on campus committees and advise student groups.
  • Respond to campus emergencies and work an on‑call shift 1–2 weeks and weekends a month; perform additional responsibilities in support of departmental and institutional priorities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of experience in student affairs work or a related specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs‑related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Housing and operations or a Student Affairs related field at a professional/graduate level.
