Job summary

The Salvation Army in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Housing Program Associate to orient new residents, prepare intake records, and process service fees. You will also assist residents in locating affordable housing and coordinate referrals to community agencies.

The role includes supervising facility upkeep and maintaining records, with a strong emphasis on compliance and service delivery. A high school diploma or GED and 2 years in social/public service are expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Salary Range: $15.50 Hourly

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with locating affordable housing; provides appropriate referrals to other social service agencies in the community as needed.
  • Supervises and participates in the cleaning and maintenance of facilities, supplies and equipment; inspects facility on a routine basis to ensure compliance with established standards.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Knowledge of household management techniques
  • Ability to prepare and process records and statistics in an accurate and complete manner.
  • Ability to supervise resident activities to ensure facility is properly maintained and secured in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.).

Work is performed in a normal lodging environment where there are little of no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
