Job summary

Catholic Community Services of Western Washington (CCSWW) seeks four temporary Paralegal I positions in Seattle to support the Tenant Law Center’s attorneys and staff.

Responsibilities include client intake, screening eligibility, drafting legal memoranda and form letters, and managing matters in LegalServer. This on-site role runs 15–40 hours per week through December 2026, with some positions continuing into 2027.

Qualifications

• Law School class level: all considered; preference for Rule 9 eligibility.
• Experience with low-income or vulnerable populations.
• Interest in housing law and public service.
• Fluency in a language other than English.

Responsibilities

• Call tenants to conduct intakes and assist attorneys throughout the intake process.
• Screen tenants to determine eligibility and summarize issues and defenses.
• Provide follow-up assistance including social service referrals and negotiations.
• Draft legal memoranda, form letters, manuals, and checklists related to TLC’s practice areas.
• Make calls using own cell phone; show compassion and respect to tenants.
• Become proficient in using LegalServer, the client management database.
• Attend staff meetings and weekly case discussions (Wednesdays at 1pm).
