Catholic Charities of New York seeks a Supervising Attorney for the Preserving Housing unit within the Food & Housing Division. The role leads attorneys, paralegals, and housing advocates to provide high-quality representation in housing matters.

Ideal candidates will have NYS Bar admission, 5+ years of legal and supervisory experience, and a demonstrated commitment to public interest. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and NYS Bar admission required.
• 5+ years of legal and supervisory experience.
• Commitment to public interest or pro bono work.
• Excellent oral and written communication and litigation skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the EPGP program and set goals and objectives.
• Stay current on NYS housing court laws and practices.
• Supervise paralegals, program manager and support staff to ensure quality representation.
• Coordinate intake and respond to client, community, and staff concerns.
• Monitor and maintain a high standard of holistic representation and client service.
• Analyze legal issues, develop strategies, and supervise implementation.
• Represent clients with caseload management and co-counseling with staff attorneys.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, government agencies and courts.
• Maintain a productive work environment.
• Conduct community education, training, and outreach to promote the office’s work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
