Job summary

Indianapolis Housing Agency is seeking a Housing Inspector I to perform housing inspections under the Section 8 program in Marion County, ensuring compliance with HUD HQS and related regulations. You will also train staff, run reports, and complete inspections daily with documentation and landlord communication.

The role requires strong knowledge of housing codes, the ability to conduct lead-based paint inspections, and to work with landlords and contractors to correct violations within policy

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HUD program regulations and guidelines.
• Experience in housing codes enforcement is preferred.
• Three or more years in building construction or remodeling.

Responsibilities

• Inspect housing units at least annually and coordinate with landlords for necessary repairs.
• Conduct inspections for code violations and communicate findings to owners/managers and contractors.
• Perform lead-based paint inspections and ensure safety for children under age six as required by HQS and HUD.
