Job summary

VOA-Greater New York seeks a Community Support Services Engagement Specialist in Perth Amboy, NJ. The role focuses on identifying and engaging homeless individuals using Housing First and Motivational Interviewing to support recovery goals in housing, employment, health, education and social life.

The successful candidate will provide behavioral health rehabilitation services, maintain HMIS/EHR records within 48 hours, and collaborate with the program team to connect clients to community

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a helping profession.
• Minimum 1 year experience with homelessness services.
• CPRP certification may substitute for one year of experience.
• Valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development and monitoring of individualized rehabilitation plans.
• Provide skill teaching to develop housing, employment, health, education, and social skills.
• Document observations and services in HMIS and EHR within 48 hours of contact.
• Perform crisis intervention as needed.
• Provide supportive counseling to unhoused and recently housed individuals.
• Communicate observations to Program Manager and clinical team.
• Attend team meetings and supervision; work as part of a team.
• Organize socialization activities using IMR or similar evidence-based practices.
• Participate in service coordination activities including vocational/educational services.
• Develop community resources for affordable housing.
