Job summary

Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) is seeking a Housing Counselor to provide customer service to applicants for SHA housing programs. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and at least two years of experience in human services or housing programs.

Responsibilities include case management of challenging customers, providing information and referrals to community resources, and developing partnerships with service providers to improve access for diverse SHA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, social work, or related fields.
• May substitute an additional four years of relevant work experience for college level course work.
• Two years of experience in human services related non‑profit public service, social services, human services, housing programs, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Conduct case management of challenging customers
• Provide information and referrals for community resources
• Analyze information needs of SHA applicants and of private market housing providers
• Develop and maintain relationships with service providers in the community
• Take leadership role in identifying barriers to access for people with disabilities, immigrants, and other SHA customers
