Job summary

The New York City Housing Authority seeks an experienced Associate Inspector (Housing Construction) L2 to oversee complex construction and maintenance projects from inception to completion. You will manage schedules, budgets, safety compliance, and quality standards while coordinating with contractors and building management.

This role requires strong project management, supervisory experience, and the ability to navigate city regulations across five boroughs; travel is required.

Qualifications

• Six years of full-time paid experience in related construction fields with supervisory capacity.
• Alternative combinations including a degree/technical education and supervisory experience are acceptable.
• Experience in housing construction inspection and regulatory compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform site inspections across all project phases and enforce building regulations.
• Review contract specs and ensure environmental compliance (lead, asbestos, mold).
• Attend meetings and approve contractor payment requests and documentation.
• Maintain records for change orders and audits; prepare weekly activity reports.
• Create Maximo work orders and coordinate project phases with contractors and management.
• Coordinate with other departments for required submissions and communications.
• Oversee trade staff and monitor work progress to ensure quality and safety.
