Job summary

H&H is seeking Construction Inspectors Level II through IV for roadway, highway, and bridge projects in New York City’s Brooklyn and Queens, and Nassau County. You will read plans, compute quantities, and prepare daily inspection reports to document work and payments.

Requirements vary by level (2+ to 10+ years). Knowledge of highway/bridge methods and preferred certifications (OSHA-10, SiteManager). Competitive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• ACI Concrete Testing certification preferred.
• Work Zone Traffic Control certification preferred.

• NYSDOT SiteManager reporting software experience preferred.
• NYCDOT/NYCDDC experience preferred.
• Strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to field measure quantities and calculate quantities of work for payment recommendations.
• Prepare clear Daily Inspection Reports documenting work performed, manpower, materials, and equipment used.

Responsibilities

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and any special requirements
• Working knowledge of mathematics with the ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to field measure quantities and calculate quantities of completed work to recommend payment to the contractor for items of work
• Ability to prepare clear and concise Daily Inspection Reports to document the work performed; the manpower, material, and equipment used; field measure and calculate quantities of work completed and other pertinent information
• Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment
• Good oral and written communication skill

Requirements

• Level II Inspector : Minimum of two years' related experience
• Level III Senior Inspector or Office Engineer: Minimum of five years of related experience
• Level IV Chief Inspector or Resident Engineer: Minimum of ten years' related experience
• Working knowledge of highway and/or bridge construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications
• American Concrete Institute (ACI Concrete Testing certification (preferred)
• Work Zone Traffic Control certifications (preferred)
• 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training certification
• NYSDOT and/or NYC Dept. of Design & Construction experience preferred, depending on the project
• Experience with NYSDOT SiteManager reporting software for DOT projects (preferred)
• Experience with NYCDOT and/or NYCDDC (preferred)
• Good writing and communication skills
