Job summary

Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) is hiring an Occupancy Specialist to manage the Housing Choice Voucher program (Section 8) in Portsmouth, VA. The role covers admissions, eligibility, reexaminations, voucher issuance, and HAP contracts under HUD rules and local plans.

The ideal candidate will handle data entry in housing software, assist with rent calculations and payment standards, and coordinate with property owners and other city agencies.

Qualifications

• Understanding HUD HCV regulations and Fair Housing laws.
• Proficient in financial calculations for income inclusions/exclusions and rent.
• Experience communicating with diverse populations and partners.

Responsibilities

• Process applications and verify program eligibility.
• Coordinate annual and interim reexaminations and utility allowances.
• Prepare and process HAP contracts, leases, and rent reasonableness evaluations.
• Enter data into housing software and submit HUD-50058 to EIV/PIC.
• Coordinate port-in/port-out moves with PHAs and landlords.
