Job summary

CVOEO is hiring a housing advocate to join our Champlain Place team in Burlington, VT. The role focuses on trauma-informed support for emergency housing clients and others experiencing homelessness, helping them access safe, sustainable housing and essential benefits.

The position is part-time (16 hours per week) with a weekend day shift, offering pay of $31.24-$32.18 per hour. The job requires travel within the service area and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in social or human services or equivalent experience; commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Understanding of homelessness, affordable housing, poverty, economic justice.
• Experience in advocacy and service provision to housing- and income-insecure individuals.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable transportation; ability to travel within the CVOEO service area; flexible hours incl. weekends/evenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered, trauma-informed support for emergency housing clients and others experiencing homelessness.
• Assist clients to secure housing and access essential benefits.
• Refer clients to employment, medical, mental health and substance use disorder services.
• Collaborate with community partners to address housing barriers and access social services.
• Promote a sense of community and support clients after housing is secured.
