Job summary

Country Club of Detroit is seeking a Houseperson to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the Clubhouse and campus. You will ensure all furnishings, fixtures, and common areas are clean, well‑maintained, and welcoming for members, guests, and staff.

Responsibilities include general cleaning and upkeep, floor care, minor repairs, safe operation of cleaning equipment, reporting issues, and communicating priorities to the Housekeeping Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Ability to lift 25–50 pounds consistently and frequently.
• Experience with cleaning and general maintenance.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely.

• Perform general cleaning and upkeep of the Clubhouse and campus, including dusting, trash removal, supply restocking, and window cleaning.
• Maintain flooring through vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment and tools and respond to spills promptly.
• Complete minor repairs to furniture, fixtures, and décor as needed.
• Transport and reposition furnishings around the Clubhouse regularly.
• Communicate daily priorities and completed tasks to the Housekeeping Manager.

Job Overview

The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of the Clubhouse and surrounding campus. This role ensures all furnishings, fixtures, and common areas are clean, well‑maintained, and present a welcoming environment for members, guests, and staff.

Essential Job Duties

• Perform general cleaning and upkeep of the Clubhouse and campus, including dusting, polishing, trash removal, supply restocking, and window cleaning
• Maintain all flooring surfaces through vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping
• Safely and properly operate cleaning equipment and tools
• Respond promptly to spills and minor cleaning or maintenance issues
• Complete minor repairs to furniture, fixtures, and décor as needed
• Report major repair needs or safety concerns to supervisors or management in a timely manner
• Transport and reposition furnishings throughout the Clubhouse on a regular basis
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and independently with minimal supervision
• Communicate daily priorities, completed tasks, and updates to the Housekeeping Manager

Minimum Skills & Qualifications

• Handle basic maintenance, building repairs, cleaning, and other janitorial work
• Ability to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies
