Job summary

Kaizen Lab Inc. is seeking a Houseman to clean hotel common areas such as the lobby, breakfast area, restrooms, and public spaces in Birmingham, AL. You will vacuum, mop, dust, wipe surfaces, and ensure areas are well maintained and welcoming for guests.

Role requires lifting up to 40 pounds, customer service skills, and punctual completion of tasks. Training and uniform provided as part of standard hotel operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferably 6 months experience in cleaning or janitorial work.
• Ability to interact with guests in a professional and helpful manner.

Responsibilities

• Clean hotel common areas per standards, including lobby, breakfast area, restrooms, and elevators.
• Vacuum and mop floors; dust surfaces; wipe tables in breakfast area.
• Ensure lighting works; maintain clean doors, walls, and elevator tracks.
• Handle trash and recycling; keep pool area free of debris; power wash as needed.
• Engage guests in conversation and resolve issues promptly.

Job description

SUMMARY:

Houseman must clean common areas of the hotel including the front entrance, lobby, public restrooms, breakfast area, elevators, pool, guest hallways, fitness center, employee break room and bathroom and all meeting rooms. Houseman should demonstrate good customer service skills and complete tasks in a timely manner. Housemen may be required to lift heavy items (sometimes upstairs); interact with guests in a professional/helpful manner; operate vacuums and use different types of cleaning solutions.

Professional Experience

• Preferably 6 months experience in cleaning or janitorial related field

Essential Functions

• Wear uniform per hotel standards; adhere to professional grooming standards
• Clean common areas per hotel standards and hotel provided training, to include but not limited to
• Cleaning front glass doors
• Vacuuming, sweeping/mopping floors in all areas assigned
• Clean parking lot and pick up trash
• Dust all areas assigned
• Wipe down tables and pick up dishes in breakfast area
• Ensure lighting is functional
• Clean the doors, walls, and tracks in elevator
• Keep clutter and debris out of pool and pool area
• Empty trash and recycling bins in pool area
• Clean up wet areas and use wet floor signs
• Straighten furniture
• Check ice machine and clean surface
• Check stairwells for debris and trash
• Ensure all equipment in fitness room is clean and functional
• Wipe down surfaces and clean microwave in employee break area
• Shampoo carpet and power wash building as needed
• Engage every guest in conversation and recognition
• Resolve any guest issue immediately
• Promote the hotel by demonstrating high level of positive attitude and energy to serve our guests
• Represents the hotel to the guest throughout any stage of the guest's stay
• Participate in all training as assigned

Physical Requirements

• At least average oral communication
• Requires walking and repetitive motions, and may on occasion have to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
• Able to stand, sit, and walk, for more than 4 hours

Education

• Background screening for previous criminal history
• At least high school diploma or G.E.D.

Houseman will be positioned in any department as needed during higher occupancy and short on labor in any department at that time. Houseman will be required to complete all task assigned to him/her during their shift.
