Job summary

SpringHill Suites by Marriott is seeking a Houseman to help maintain the hotel’s public areas and assist with room preparations. You will support housekeeping, maintenance, front desk, and events teams to ensure a smooth guest experience.

The role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, lift up to 25 pounds, and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays. A positive attitude and teamwork are essential for success.

Job description

As a Houseman at SpringHill Suites by Marriott, you will play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the hotel’s public areas. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that common areas are clean and well-maintained, assisting with room preparations, and supporting the housekeeping and maintenance teams to provide an excellent experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Public Area Cleaning: Clean and maintain the hotel's public areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, and stairwells. Ensure these areas are well-stocked and presentable at all times.
• Guest Requests: Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests for additional amenities or services, such as extra towels, blankets, or assistance with luggage.
• Room Assistance: Assist the housekeeping team with room preparations by delivering clean linens, removing dirty linen, and handling special requests.
• Maintenance Support: Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, repairing minor issues, and reporting major maintenance problems to the appropriate department.
• Supplies Management: Monitor and manage the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Report low inventory levels and ensure supplies are stored properly.
• Safety and Hygiene: Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe environment for both guests and staff. Handle and dispose of waste and recyclables according to hotel policies.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other hotel departments, including housekeeping, maintenance, and front desk, to address and resolve any issues that may arise.
• Event Support: Assist with setting up and breaking down hotel events or meetings as needed, including arranging furniture and equipment.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous experience in a housekeeping or maintenance role is preferred but not required.
• Skills: Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting and moving furniture, and handling cleaning equipment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Attributes: Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent guest service.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to [25] pounds as needed.
• Ability to perform tasks involving repetitive motions and bending.
