Christopher Newport University is seeking a Housekeeping and Apparel Worker I to perform housekeeping tasks and maintain clean facilities on campus. This is a part-time hourly role with responsibilities that include cleaning assigned areas and supporting department objectives in Facilities Management.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, experience with cleaning methods and supplies, and the ability to work 1st or 2nd shift including weekends.

Departmental Objective:

Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining campus buildings utilizing the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades as well as housekeeping and floor maintenance.

Purpose of the Position:

This position will ensure the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing various housekeeping tasks.

  • Skilled in the use of housekeeping equipment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain positive relations with faculty, staff and students

Salary Information:

Salary $15.53 to $19.41 per hour, Commensurate with Education and Experience

Conditions of Employment:
  • This is an HOURLY position and does NOT entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits and is limited to 1500 hours in a 365-day period.
  • Selected candidate will be required to attend a 2-Day New Employee Orientation Program.
  • Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift and weekend hours
