Spring Grove Hospital Center, the largest psychiatric hospital operated by the State of Maryland, is seeking a housekeeping supervisor to lead personnel on the 189-acre Catonsville campus. The role covers all common areas and the requisitioning and maintenance of cleaning supplies, under general supervision from a higher-level supervisor.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise staff engaged in the housekeeping activities at a large state facility set on an 189-acre campus. The activities are specific to all common areas, and requisitioning and maintaining cleaning supplies to handle the needs of the workers in assigned areas. This position receives general supervision from a higher‑level housekeeping supervisor. This is an 'EMERGENCY ESSENTIAL' position required to have and maintain a valid Maryland driver's license and be able to drive a state vehicle in accordance with state of Maryland policies and procedures for the drivers of state vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: None.
• Experience: Four years of experience performing housekeeping activities in a State facility or another public building.
• OR
• Experience: Four years of full-time experience as a housekeeper in a school, hospital, hotel, or another institution, to include one year of supervisory experience.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cleaning commercial establishments.
• Experience with Microsoft Word.

Special Requirements

• Employees in this classification may be required to be present for duty on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Employees required to work on those days will receive compensatory time off on other days.
• Employees in this classification may be required to live on the grounds of the assigned institution or agency.
